in cissexist society, "you don't need medical transition to be valid" means "you aren't getting medical transition, be happy"
The first piece of writing I ever made for The Needle was our ethics statement, much of which is about what to do if we need to issue a retraction.

I thought about that before we did a single piece of journalism or published a single opinion essay.
A recent opinion article from The Needle pissed some people off and we fixed the offending section same-day.

Assigned Media has published certain misinformation for 3 months+ that even local mainstream media later backed away from.

If we ever push misinfo, we'll delete and retract immediately.
original article archive below and the next post is proof i gathered that it still wasn't fixed as of 2 days ago

it literally took 3 months for @assignedmedia.org to slightly edit a headline that aligned with NY post and mainstream coverage doing the same misinfo

seeing a lot of my allies and comrades i'm in community with calling precise language for different groups with different needs "counterproductive" and "divisive"

i guess we don't need the terms LGBTQ or Queer

it's divisive to point out how we're different from cis ppl!

NVIDIA, $NVDA, marketcap equals 16% of the US GDP.

It has a larger market cap than all the banks in US and Canada combined.

I did not enjoy writing this; it can't even serve as an ad for my newsletter, which I've suspended due to an overbilling situation that has me almost regretting leaving Substack. But, you know, it's evidence for the piece I just didn't get to include.

Welp, there's the official confirmation

This drawing has her chin covering half of her head. its the single largest feature. This is to trans people what blackface is to black people. Its designed to train viewers to see slight differences as massive differences, and that those differences make you less of a person.
like im sorry this dude fabricated a chin and jawline that isnt there irl because if you actually drew her as she looks you might mistake her for cis and we cant have that

like yes i AM better than you but it's because you're a dipshit not because i'm 'more trans' or something, needing steroid hormone drugs to live is actually a net malus

its really telling imo that the people mad about "cissexual"/"transsexual" *insist* on interpreting use of the terms an attempt to establish a hierarchy (derogatory) and not simply as value neutral subgroups, incredible self report

We need trans activism that’s actually pro-femininity

god gave us hrt. a bona fide miracle of nature. people thousands of years ago would've burned down entire villages to access it had they known of its existence. yet you choose not to use it?

you're no better than an antivaxxer.

the fact that hormones change our bodies so utterly and drastically is an incredible shock to the cissexist systems that restrict our rights—both medical and otherwise—and it would be a disservice not to use it out of fear of excluding or invalidating those who choose not to take hormones
Partially, but I think Tumblr and the culture that came from it in the 2010s is a more proximate cause.
"Private room in Bushwick"

There are homeless trans women in Bushwick right now who need a roof over their head more than they need to feel valid.
Theyfab art is a mix of:
- corporate memphis, with its colorful exaggerated lines and its implied message of pro-diversity / "it's bigoted to criticize this"
- ...with the ideological underpinnings of "non-transition and AGAB proximity are actually woke and brave" tenderqueer ideology. (1/)
its always funny how supposedly transgressive theyfab art uses the exact same style that emerged from what corpos use to be as unoffensive as possible.
