We've actively canceled many programs that help to protect us from a pandemic. We're not just forgetting, we're actively helping to make it happen.
I know we all like to forget COVID, but imo it’s bonkers that politicians talk so much about increasing defence spending, yet we’ve apparently forgotten to spend any time or money guarding against a future pandemic

H5N1 bird flu outbreak shuts down a large egg farm in Arizona.

The owner of Hickman's Family Farms says ~6 million chickens will be culled (USDA reports 5.2 million). They say it will take two years to rebuild the flock and hundreds of workers will be laid off.

There were almost no foreign students in the 2020-21 school year because international travel had been chilled by Covid. University budgets *crashed*, because foreign students are lucrative.

This is like that but... forever?
The US Administration has indefinitely blocked *all* student visa applicants from getting a visa interview.

Worldwide, unconditional, no end date. All.
