It’s no mystery why the alcohol industry opposes duty rises - it hits their bottom line.

But when cancer charities, doctors, and liver specialists all say higher duty saves lives, ministers should ask: who has the public interest at heart?

Thank you to Sam Rushworth MP for meeting with
@wcrf.org to discuss cancer prevention - a timely discussion given today's publication of the Men's Health Strategy!

We also explored how the UK govt's welcome commitment to mandatory alcohol labels can raise awareness of the alcohol-cancer link.

Today’s Men’s Health Strategy recognises cancer as a significant health issue for men.

We’re pleased to see new commitments on community health & prostate cancer testing, but stronger action is needed on cancer risk factors like alcohol.

Yesterday @itvnews.bsky.social reported how extortionate formula costs are putting babies at risk.

@jessbrownfullermp.bsky.social urged the UK govt to implement the @cmagovuk.bsky.social's recommendations to make the formula market fairer.

Doing so will also protect breastfeeding.

Great to attend @henrydimbleby.bsky.social's Ellison Cliffe lecture last night at the Royal Society of Medicine titled "Beyond Obesity".

Henry argued that while widespread use of weight loss drugs may reduce obesity, food-related illness is here to stay unless we seriously improve our diets.
