Bout time I gave you all a sneaky peaky at what I've been up to over the past few months...

Dropping you all in the middle of the action here. Gonna try and start posting stuff once I finish writing out the whole arc!

CHARACTER PROFILES:
Honey: A bright-eyed, naïve catfolk nobleman following his youthful dreams of adventure.

Jeff: A strange yet friendly black-cloaked masked hunter who's always eager to make new friends. Accompanied by Velma (his shadow spider familiar) and a few too many bugs.

Tim: A gleeful gnomish scholar with a chip on his shoulder and a hint of madness.

??? (the knight): A large rusted hollow suit of armor with glowering embers for eyes and a voice heard only in the mind. A stalwart dread-knight of few words, claiming to follow a mission of great importance. Currently holding a pixie captive within the hollows of its armor, unbeknownst to the others.

It was a quick walk to the estate warehouse's loading zone where Jeff claimed the "dungeon full of monsters" was hidden. Several guards patrolled amidst empty crates and wagons, providing the group with their first real obstacle towards making their way inside.

"So, see that grate over there?" began Jeff as he pointed near the warehouse gate. "That's how Velma made her way inside."

"Okay," Honey answered in acknowledgement. "So we just need to make our way to that gate."

"Grate!"

"…Yes… Great. …So… how are we getting in?"

Before anyone could answer that question, the knight broke formation and began to walk straight towards the warehouse without any attempt to sneak. Or they would have, had Tim not sheepishly blocked their path.

"Stand aside," the knight declared. "Enough time has been wasted already."

"Uhm… F-far be it from me to get in your way, ser knight, but… is this really the best way to do this? Do you really want to get in a fight?"

"These pests aren't a threat to me. Any who stand in the way of my mission will fall by my blade."

"Is that… really…?"

"Oh, that's an idea!" Jeff declared as he pulled out his bow. "I can shoot them down from here while you cut them down up front—!"

"What— would you listen to yourselves!?" Honey chastised, stepping in between the three. "Enough people have died already! We are not killing them."

"Well," Tim piped up, "is it really killing them if they run into your sword…?"

"We do not even know what they are doing here! They could be protecting this city, for all we know!" Switching to a lecturing tone, Honey stated, "A real adventurer would sneak in and investigate before fighting the bad guys."

"…'Bad guys'?"

Jeff cocked his head as he reached for an arrow. "Well, if they're the bad guys, we should just shoot them, right?"

"We don't know if they're the—"

"It matters not. The fate of the world is at stake; there is no time to wait!"

"What are you even—!?"

Amidst the party's arguments, Honey's words were cut short by a whispered sigh of frustration catching his ears, along with a flash of light in his peripherals from within the hollows of the knight's armor. Whipping through the air, a wave of distortion flew free from a cavity in their joints, letting loose illusory sounds of a scuffle amidst the wagons near the guards… which drew their attention away from the warehouse.

Unable to look away, Honey's fur bristled as his instincts kicked in, eyes widening as they followed a trace of movement that danced within the knight's hollows with an entrancing blue glow… until Jeff snapped him out of it, grabbing his arm and yanking him towards the gate. "C'mon, Honey! You wanted to sneak in; now's our chance!"

"Uh… …right!"

Light on their feet, Honey and Jeff quickly made their way ahead of the pack towards the warehouse gate. Though instead of approaching the gate, Jeff instead veered off to the side towards a tiny drain tunnel obscured in the shadows.

"What are you doing?" asked Honey, as he searched for a way to open the gate.

"Here's the grate," answered Jeff.

Honey paused, turning to face Jeff and the grate. "…The 'grate'??"

"Yeah, the grate!"

"…You said the 'gate'!"

"No, I corrected you!"

"You corrected me!?"

"Yeah!"

"But you sai— …you just— …I thought you were saying 'great'!!"

"Yeah! I did say 'grate'!"

"What do you—!?" Honey cut himself off, taking a sharp breath before continuing. "Okay. 'Grate'. How exactly did you expect us to sneak in through that tiny little GRATE!?"

"What do you mean? Just get smaller!"

"'GET SMALLER'!?"

"Yeah!"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'GET SMALL—'!?"

"Hey, what's taking so lo—?" Tim crashed into a bucket as he approached, which clattered loudly as it slammed into the gate.

In the deafening silence that followed, all of the guards both within and outside the warehouse turned to see the party standing at the gate looking like a crowd of cats caught eating a pet canary… as the knight slowly sauntered in from out of frame towards the thin gate without an ounce of subtlety and hacked it down with a single empowered slash of their metal paddle that resounded like a clap of thunder.

"…Whuh…?" "H-HEY!" "GET 'EM!"

"Gods… damn it…!"
