Did my med school buddies and I stop and go through all the cranial nerve foramina when there was an open skull on the side of the path at Six Flags for Fright Fest? Yes, yes we did

Reading a CDC article for class and this popped up at the top. Excuse me?!
Screenshot of banner on CDC website that reads:
The Trump Administration is working to reopen the government for the American people. Mission-critical activities of CDC will continue during the Democrat-led government shutdown. Certain federal government activities have ceased due to a lack of appropriated funding. During the government shutdown, only web sites supporting excepted functions will be updated. As a result, the information on this website may not be up to date and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries.

When can I start getting worried about picking up where we left off last season with OT losses?

Heard the updated goal song on WRHU's pregame intro and man, I like this energy #isles

My course director is making three Connections games each week related to lecture content for this unit (which is fairly heavy on heme onc) and I'm having a little more fun than I should with it

I told my pharmacist and he paid me for my prescription. So thankful for Trump keeping his promise on lowering medication costs by 600+%

Great article on the current state of cancer immunotherapy research. Lots of great progress and lots of promise, but still plenty more to be discovered/developed (and a need for NIH funding to support that research!)

Checkpoint inhibitors are the mainstay of cancer immunotherapy. Here's a new review article for the current state of the science and where we're headed www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Between this and his "too much liquid... at too big a number," I want to laugh but then I remember his secretary of health and pathogen services is fully on board
Very glad I live in a blue state, though, and a big fan of the Northeast Public Health Collaborative

Man, we could've had a shot at hemispheric free trade and the TPP with Hillary. Instead we're getting left out because of small dick Don and his tariffs

Just arrived in Mexico City.

In today’s rapidly shifting global landscape, we’re focused on deepening our relationship with Mexico to create good careers for our workers, strengthen supply chains, and build economic resilience across our nations.

Been pretty busy with classes the past two weeks but decided to pick up Trigger Warning (Neil Gaiman short story collection) while at the library under the very wrong assumption that it'd be light reading. Glad I got it though, definitely a good read so far

Solid turnout in Merrick earlier today! Some great music in the background too, from Bob Dylan to Green Day

It was great that Ezra Klein met with Senate Dems earlier this year, but it's really more important on local level right now. Would love to see something similar with mayors of large, blue state cities, city councils, etc

It’s much harder to build housing in Blue states than it is in Red states.

So yes people are moving away from Blue states.

One more reason that addressing the housing shortage in NY and elsewhere must be an urgent priority.

Great article from the WSJ on the new meaning/experience of cancer from the patient side, plus the importance of continued research and drug development

Even had a quote from Dr. Mark Lewis, one of my favorite oncologists

A New Reality for Terminal Cancer: Longer Lives, With Chronic Uncertainty
Stage-four cancer patients are living longer, challenging the idea of what it means to have and survive cancer. “The science just needs to stay a step ahead of me.”

A true hero. Thank you.

A still of Officer David Rose speaking as class leader of Dekalb’s 138th police academy during their graduation ceremony. Quote: “It’s about protecting the vulnerable, standing for justice and being the person who runs toward danger when others run away.”

I still can't believe that we advanced to the point where we could make vaccines for novel viruses in months, where we're almost within reach of vaccines for cancer, HIV, type 1 diabetes. And instead of taking that next step, Kennedy decided to turn his back on our health
