Wow they just spell it out very directly: after the most recent financing rounds, Microsoft holds a 27% stake in OpenAI (down from 32.5%).
Microsoft says it supports the OpenAI board moving to form a public benefit corporation and recapitalization, and now holds a ~$135B OpenAI Group PBC investment (Microsoft)

No jokes about this one. It's like laying off all of Adobe. And bigger than almost all companies. Just a massive scale.

Certainly reads that way (from public statements), but like the handhelds others are building, will any of them be good enough to take on PlayStation/Nintendo?
They'll never admit it, of course, but come on, this feels like the end of Xbox, no? One more (already-in-the-works) generation and I think they exit the business...

OpenAI’s ambitions have scaled it to an “AGI or Bust” scenario. Which would be fine, perhaps even laudable in ways, except that the entire economy may now be along for the ride…
