I do sincerely enjoy that this account is an unapologetically chaotic mix of serious (and non serious) programming, trans literature, and general other transposting.

(Belated) January CD haul:

this is (a tad over) £100 of CDs and there’s quite a few favourites in here.

fosdem? no, I prefer forcefem

(is this anything? I have like four permutations of this and they’re all this bad)
(90% chance I’ve seen this somewhere and it’s not original lmao)

you ever think about how if you or I had Money we would, like, upgrade our gaming PC, get some life-saving medicine, pay for dinner for our friends, commission art of our blorbo, help out with somebody's mutual aid. and instead all these people took trips to Sex Crimes Island and get to run society

npmx is the first of many projects that will flourish from the relationships and bridges between communities we'll cultivate during the following months
the highlight of the npmx hype train for me is the folks it has brought out and given a new exciting thing to collaborate on

the idea is secondary to the reinvigoration of the community

mentioned this in my year end leaflet, but think I might make an actual goal of getting myself to fosdem next year, because it sounds like it’s popping off with ATProto +adjacent peeps this year

“Consider: you just don’t have to get weird” is a whole mood

especially in the context of names too. switching names for people isn’t hard, and not being weird about people switching names isn’t hard

Going to get back into parakeet development tomorrow(finally!) by ripping out my did-resolver and replacing it with jacquard.

At some point I want to do the same for the lexicon definitions - there’s no real point to me (manually) maintaining a copy in-tree.

how on earth did I forget “personality is stored in the balls” from Dorley, uh, whatever the first chapter of book 3 is.

absolute gem, need to use that one in conversation.

okay so I did some searching around and found someone on the cachy forums with exactly the same behaviour and log entries for my *other* issue that was causing freezing and crashes - now I’m wondering if they’re related…
my desktop has decided I have had too long of a fully working linux install, and I now have broken sleep, suspend, and resume, as is tradition.

I don’t think anyone is using it (I hope not!), but I’m going to be turning off the PLC mirror at plc.parakeet.at in the coming days and archiving the codebase.

It’s old code that was written in a hurry, and there are other, better implementations and hosts out there

the title of wyffh 30 is remarkably apt and I’m only 55% of the way through it atm

well the W stuff will be amusing if nothing else, given that they’ve started with a comms disaster before even launching

2026 reading thread:

first book this year: Secrets of Dorley Hall. Up to a 324 day read streak - getting *concerningly* close to a year now.

open to recs for good books, especially ones with trans / LGBTQIA+ themes and characters for later in the year!
9 books now.

Finished Welcome to Dorley Hall on day 2**8 🥳

next up, Dorley 2 and the run to a 300 day streak. Predicting I’ll get close to a year after getting caught up on Dorley.
Now up to 8 books. Tomorrow begins the Dorley marathon for the remainder of the year… (at least)

< this girl missed a call from the passport office by literally a minute and she’s both annoyed and stuck in waiting mode about it until they call back

new profile picture is the notion avatar maker btw - had a fiddle around today. might end up fiddling a bit, maybe adding skin tone and proper hair colour but idk.

I could use a Memoji but that’s cringe

Dorley 26:

Mia Dorley not cleaning the cafetière is extremely me coded (and topical) ever since I became one of those insufferable people that takes one to work with beans ground earlier that morning.
January 16, 2026 at 11:33 PM
maybe it’s just the kind of people I follow but I’ve genuinely never seen anyone use a cashtag.

(this isn’t to say we shouldn’t have them - they’re harmless and a “quick win”, in PM speak, and some people use them, I hear)
January 15, 2026 at 11:02 PM
Dorley 25 poignantly putting into words how I’ve felt since starting back at work in the new year doing 3/4 office days in a dress, with:

“I don’t want people to see me […] while I’m still so early in transition, because I feel sort of ridiculous and ugly and male, all that shit.”

we really need better ways of handling per-app deactivation - I’ve been out of a few days but wish teal scrobbling and tangled worked properly
