Have you ever wanted to make Cyanostar for yourself? Now you can! Here, we share the detailed synthesis of CS on a large scale or in a rapid timeframe. @floodgroup.bsky.social www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Cyanostar synthesis on large or rapid scales†
Cyanostar is a pentagonal macrocycle that is selective for polyatomic anions. Use of cyanostar in research and technology has grown since its debut in 2013 with more than 40 publications and 5 pate...

Those organic chemists have been getting too cocky lately, time to take them down a notch (make it illegal for them to mention the sixth element in the periodic table)

Also fun that the FAA has made it clear that I'm not welcome as a pilot either, by going to the very great trouble of reversing a completely sensible language modernization from "Notices to Airmen" to "Notices to Air Missions." So much work and expense just to put women aviators back in our places.
NOTAMs Back To 'Notice to Airmen'
The former gender-specific long form of the term is back after three years.

Super great that one of the major funding bodies that supports my physics research is now officially in opposition to me being the one to do it.
Happy International Day of Women in Science. The National Science Foundation’s list of flagged words includes both “Women” and “Female.”

Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

Science takes many weird and wonderful forms and can take you some weird and wonderful places. It got me flying higher and faster than I could have imagined, doing experiments in labs that look like this ⬇️

What a weekend! Camped out in Chain O’Lakes State Park in single digit temps before running my first marathon. On the way there, I stopped at Indiana Dunes National Park.

Extracting recalcitrant redox data on fluorophores to pair with optical data for predicting small-molecule, ionic isolation lattices

Placed a solvent jug on the bench perhaps a little harder than I should of and witnessed the bottom break out from under 2 L of THF which proceeded to destroy everything in a 2 ft radius, including lab notebook, the floor, and the soles of my shoes.

Scientist friends, as we are building community here, I have a question to get to know you:

What is a mistake that you made in the lab?

Well, I think I’ll be over here more often going forward. I look forward to reconnecting with folks from the other app and finding new people. Let me know if you do science, sports, space, or aviation! I want to find my favorite communities!

Sometimes you labor for weeks to get crystals to grow. Sometimes you leave a couple vials open in the hood one night and get a nice surprise the next morning!
