It is not just the act of violence but the spirit of violence that must be opposed. It is not just the action to harm another which must be opposed but the desire that harm would fall to another. If we do not have the courage to pursue a politics of love, our political heart will be consumed by hate

New: I wrote about Emily, who has streamed her life 24/7 for three years. No sick days, no vacations, no sex - and thousands of strangers who see her as a friend. “They don’t get a break from the constant surveillance … Is it any wonder these people burn out?” www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
Inside the life of a 24/7 streamer: ‘What more do you want?’

Politics is not a game. It involves people's lives. And those making political decisions are not merely in power, they have an obligation to serve. You do not recklessly experiment using power you only steward. Many political decisions cannot be simply reversed.

"If circumstances can lead us to sacrifice gentleness in pursuit of a political outcome, it is likely because we fear not getting something from politics that we believe we need more than what God will provide if we are faithful. This fear paves the way for the downward spiral of rationalizations"

Seeing positive posts about Carter from some of the very people who rejected and mocked him along very Trumpian lines basically right up until 2015-2018. They don’t acknowledge the bulk of their political careers were spent undermining that which they now extol. They all have malaise now.
