Good piece. Municipal govn’t is the last bastion of political democracy because it forces “independently elected” representatives to negotiate, compromise & seek “consensus” to get anything done. Once party politics is injected, compromise & consensus are dead. Policy becomes a slave to ideology.

If men with guns and masks tried to pull me out of my car, I'd fight back. Courts should reject any claims by the government that this is aggression by the person being detained, resisting arrest, or that they're a flight risk.

I mean George Martin’s legendary work with the Beatles; Paul Samwell-Smith’s work with Cat Stevens; (for all his faults) Phil Spector & the wall of sound, Sam Phillips & the early use of reverb with Elvis & Clarence Paul’s early work with Stevie Wonder. Indeed, I loved my #ableg experiences throughout that era. We covered substantial capital P politics, but they were done in a more gentlemanly way compared to these days. I can't imagine reporting on the the current maple-MAGA style of leaders.
Sad to say, but I'm glad my journo days are over.
