This is Kalanthe (name from @ekjohnston.bsky.social's The Afterward). She is a 7 year old Australian Cattle Dog (a red heeler like Bingo and Chilli in Bluey). She's 15kg/30lbs over her ideal weight, has arthritis and needs lots of training. @distaff.bsky.social and I are getting there!

this is maybe trite at this point but it is in your interest to find ways to create things. basically everyone wants you to be consuming nonstop. making stuff, from cooking to photography or whatever, can help you feel more in control. doesn’t even have to be something you share with other people

I work from home 2-3 days a week so I can sneak in a lunch nap some days. In the office, I'll walk a lap of my floor to jiggle my brain awake. On non-work days I can manage a proper nap but I'm still zonked by 9. I don't beat myself up about not sleeping through anymore. There's no people noise 😊

I'm normally wiped out and overwhelmingly sleepy by about 9pm. So most nights I'll sleep hard from 9 or 10 through to 1 or 2. Then it's often impossible to reset until around 4. Then I doze off again until my work alarm goes off at 5:35am.

The thing about being awake from 2-4am most nights is I see the news before morning really hits here. I often have to consider whether or not to wake Emily and tell her. Doesn't happen often but the Red Wings finally retiring Fedorov's number is REALLY close to a wake up reason! #lgrw #retire91
