Hi! I'm Anna. I am a disabled and queer author of similarly queer and disabled YA and adult SFF. Will post a short synopsis of each, followed by representation you can expect and links where you can find that work. I will not cover every platform, but my books are available widely. Ready? Long 🧵:
And yes, vaccines help…lessen the severity if and when you do catch them. They aren’t sterilizing.

That doesn’t mean they’re unimportant. It just means they should not be your only layer of protection—and certainly not your family’s.

Mask up in the germ tubes and the places they stop.
We always see a surge of infectious disease, including COVID, RSV, etc etc around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unless you want to gift your fam with a few weeks sick this year, mask up as you travel!

Sorry to everyone who thinks there should be fewer romances involving grief, but we all just lived through a mass death/disabling historical event with absolutely zero public rhetoric about it (or the fact that it’s ongoing) and grief romances is one big way we’re all Working That Out

Turned in systematic review and feeling kind of listless. I’d like to feel relieved, but there are three more assignments due in very short order. Most are group projects.

Even with an excellent group, I still dislike the “I’m waiting on you, you’re waiting on me, oops, time to circle back” thing.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

You know, thinking about this, I really blame reality TV for a lot of the bullshit we are dealing with now. Obviously there’s the Orange Demon, but when they convinced viewers that it was okay to watch people debase themselves to indulge their own darker instincts…yeah, it’s no wonder.
FOX was seriously better about apologizing for a homophobic premise in 2004 than ABC in 2025

Also god I forgot how vile reality TV was.

Man, remember when TV networks listened to advocacy groups and canceled projects that had deeply upsetting, prejudiced concepts? And APOLOGIZED?

I’m waiting for reality shows featuring the DOGE boys and parents competing to get their kids healthcare.

In 2016, we were so completely burnt out on the concept of America that even celebrating obliquely wasn’t appealing. My husband tried a new recipe instead of doing napkin turkey and texturally questionable side dishes. It was just…nice.
Actually in the spirit of this conversation, what’s a decision you made about a past Thanksgiving holiday that really paid off? I think people often feel trapped by their lives. Sharing our experiences can liberate us from that sense of claustrophobia.
On the most recent episode of VIBE CHECK, we answer listener questions about Thanksgiving, most importantly “do you go celebrate with the family members you don’t even like?”

I’m pretty firmly in the “let kids act like kids” camp, but parents, if what your kid wants to do is massacre the high notes of every K-Pop Demon Hunters song in a crowded train, it would be great if you at least attempted to discuss why that’s not a great idea.

My condolences to everyone stuck.

it is absolutely the tech companies fault that people now assume they’re doing something evil and sneaky even when they actually aren’t (regarding the latest Google kerfuffle)

like, no kidding that people have zero willingness to cut big tech the benefit of the doubt anymore

Interesting sky tonight. If I had to go to campus on the weekend, this wasn’t a bad way to go about it.

We manually reviewed 9500 results for our search terms.

36 were usable.
I knew going in I was going to have trouble. The canonical literature is ableist. The DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM is ableist (among lots of other horrid things).

I guess I was expecting splash damage and not the full concentrated power of every white lady who high fives herself for not saying slurs.

So for this systematic review, I pulled “what have libraries tried to increase accessibility and how successful have they been?” Out of a hat.

Honestly, I think I would have been okay if I didn’t have to read a bunch of library directors patting themselves on the back in Library Journal.

I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

7000 word systematic review on something triggering in the clinical sense of the word due Monday. Then a test. Then two presentations, two 5000 word reports, and three examples of cataloged items complete with report.

Also agreed to be interviewed for someone else’s project.

Is this pacing?

This is a story about how America’s world-leading cancer and dementia research system was destroyed by frauds and naifs who broke the law.

There must be consequences.
Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

Hey, uh, maybe we DON’T insist genetics are responsible for someone being homicidal? Being raised weird is one thing. Being “genetically flawed” is what eugenicists like him push.

I have seen such an uptick in this lately, even among people who consider themselves progressive.
I might regret asking this, but what is WRONG with RFK jr? I don’t mean clinically, pathologically. I just mean like how the fuck was he allowed to become this?

Yes, wealth, yes, toxic masculinity, yes, sadism, but like…lots of guys have that and manage to just golf and be in unhappy marriages.

Writing: my parents really encouraged it. My dad sat with me and helped me “write” stories about a girl creatively named Anna and her dog Banana. He printed them off so I could “illustrate” them.

Library: I was a library kid. When we moved, I was looking for a job. Local library needed a page.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?
