Three years ago, a shooter killed 7 people and wounded one other in Half Moon Bay. We remember those lost, hold their community close, and recommit to action. Everyone deserves to be safe in their community.

Like many veterans, I receive my health care through the VA. But too often, insurance companies prey on veterans to enroll them in Medicare Advantage plans, which aren’t billed when care is provided through the VA.

Today would have been the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which affirmed a woman’s constitutional right to make decisions about her own body. That freedom was overturned in 2022, and women in dozens of states lost access to essential, life-saving health care.

It’s been sixteen years since the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision opened the floodgates to allow the wealthy to have an outsized influence in our political system. I have always supported overturning that decision.

Communities all over our district came out to protest for a #FreeAmerica yesterday. We had hundreds of people come to our district offices to demand this president and his administration be held accountable. Thank you for staying involved and making your voices heard!

As we honor the giants of the civil rights movement, I'm proud to remember my friend and colleague John Lewis. Walking with him across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, where he was brutally beaten for demanding equal rights, was one of the most profound experiences of my life.

Our veterans have earned access to quality care and the resources promised through the VA. Instead, this administration is making it harder for them to get the care they earned. Cutting 157 jobs at the San Francisco VA Medical Center will only make access more difficult.

When we speak up, we get results. Thanks to pressure from Congress and the public, mental health funding this administration tried to rescind was reinstated. I’ll never stop fighting to protect mental health care.
