I’ve been reporting about the potential connection of tariffs to small biz job losses. Scott Lincicome of Cato offers this piece discussing not just the high level of the tariffs, but the “truly insane complexity” whose “overall economic cost is likely staggering. “

Welcome to Tariff Complexity Hell
Complexity is a tax, and today U.S. companies are paying through the nose.

Many people - including the philosopher #AlisdairMacIntyre - believe the #totalitarian regime depicted in 1984 would last forever. There's a big chunk of textual evidence that #GeorgeOrwell didn't see it that way. doncurren.blogspot.com/2025/11/the-...

A great history lesson… missing the theory that debt is now ok, be it billionaires leveraging their assets or regular humans trying to make ends meet.

And here we are.
We too often look at prices when talking about affordability & not enough at wages. As Harold Meyerson explains, had the bottom 90% earned the same share of national income they did in 1975, by 2023 they would have made an additional $79 trillion!

This is absurd. Obviously too much money with nowhere to put it so they gamble with our financial system. No underlying usefullness whatsoever.

Hoekstra’s comments about Canadians have been so inflammatory that Time Magazine couldn’t tell where his real rhetoric ended and Beaverton satire began. CBC caught the mistake — because they still fact-check.

Are there any conservatives that aren’t grifters?
We all know Ford is an abject liar.

The amount of money being thrown at corporations (particularly developers) through this boondoggle and many others (OSC, Ontario Place, stupid tunnel, the 413, the Greenbelt, ad nauseam) and then tossed back to the “government” is like a game of hot potato.
NEW: A company that got $2M from the Skills Development Fund is run by a dentist who boasts about having the Ford family among his patients.

Ford says he had nothing to do with it getting a grant: “I don't believe in micromanaging.”
