i’m always torn between wanting to share progress on my projects and wanting it to be a surprise. it depends on the type of project but most of what i like making leans towards “it should be a surprise”. but idk how people would find out about it if i don’t post stuff from it… what a pickle

viewing my games through this lens makes me feel way more proud of them. all the ways in which they are "bad" or "evil" serve a greater goal: bad apple bullet hell is basically impossible to beat without memorization because i prioritized making it a cinematic experience
I'm having a revelation.. I think treating evil game design, player-hostile design, quality of death, etc. as goals, while aligned with my values on a surface level, is kind of like when someone intentionally sets out to make a "bad" movie. It will not be as beautiful as the sincere "bad" movies.

in gen 1 if you had a pokemon like "Fondoo, the Melted Cheese Pokemon" there was a 50% chance he'd evolve into Fondont which would be bigger and meaner and a slightly redder shade of yellow
