I already broke summer camp with Adventure Awaits and I mean it was ME, not the pack/game. I used MCCC to advance time by like 10 hours and that DESTROYS the time slots/schedule for getaways. The sims were stuck and lagged significantly trying to catch-up to the schedule. WHOOPS 😂

About EA.

Today it was announced that EA is no longer a publicly traded company. It has been acquired by a group of private investors for $55 billion, which is unprecedented. This is the largest LBO in history. The PIF (Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners are the three investors that will now privately control EA. According to the Human Rights Watch, the PIF is linked to numerous human rights violations in areas like sports, entertainment, labor, etc. Affinity Partners’ capital primarily comes from sovereign wealth funds. The PIF has contributed the bulk of Affinity’s early capital base—upwards of $2 billion. Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and former Senior Advisor, founded Affinity Partners and has a close relationship with MBS (the Chairman of the PIF).

Personally, I have grave concerns about this recent development. I’m particularly concerned because ownership of EA is now very much so politically connected and it could drastically influence content moderation and representation in the games EA produces moving forward. The PIF has poured billions into sports and entertainment and EA obviously has some very popular sports titles. However, for a game like The Sims, I am deeply concerned that this level of

influence could dismantle some of the incredible progress we’ve seen when it comes to representation and inclusivity.

Secondary to this, the acquisition is essentially a buyout that is financed by $20 billion of debt. The priority is to pay that off quickly, which means we could see a push towards more predatory DLC models and microtransactions in pending titles. It could mean budget cuts, layoffs, and reallocation of funds towards particular projects or tech (such as AI). Some argue that being privately owned means EA isn’t beholden to shareholders (especially if a title underperforms or quarterly earnings aren’t met), can make more long-term investments in projects, and take more risks when it comes to developing IPs or narrative content, but that can come with a cost since whatever they produce likely needs to be aligned with what the investors wish to contribute to; hence my initial concern of influence.

All in all, this recent development has me deeply worried for the future of The Sims. I’m not sure what else to say at this time, but I wanted to share my initial thoughts because this is a BIG deal and could have a drastic impact on a game I absolutely love.

Also this is just...so misleading. The items in the image (the modular playground equipment, imaginary friend, and archery targets) are exclusive to Adventure Awaits, but this alludes to them being part of the base game update. Not a fan of it.

Essentially the appeal is that more kids will likely show up at a playground venue compared to just the regular parks that have playground equipment. Great for your child sims to meet more kids, but...meh. A meh addition to base game, in my opinion.

Toddler Stuff, Seasons, and City Living provide the ball pit and toddler playground, swings, and the basketball net(s). Those objects, to me, diversify things enough to make an actual playground.

I don't know. Cool that we have a playground venue now, but the requirement of 6 "playground equipment" objects with only base game is extremely limited. We have 3 objects that meet this criteria, but with all the packs (especially Toddler Stuff, Seasons, and City Living) you can have more #TheSims4
