Donovan coming to SEA and Ben Williamson going away in the deal means Donovan's probably coming in to play 3B. Even if his D is minus at 3B*, I don't have a huge problem with plugging that bat into the lineup.

* He was + at 3B per UZR in a small sample, tho

Back where his career started.

(I think he's a trap, BTW. That late 2025 collapse may be legit)
Slugging third baseman Eugenio Suarez has agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract with the Cincinnati Reds after a frustrating winter on the free-agent market.

@WillSammon Dylan Moore and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a minor league contract that includes an invitation to major league spring training, league sources said. He can make up to $3.25 million with plate appearance and active roster bonuses.

The Seattle Mariners have announced their plan for in-market streaming this year: Mariners.TV.

The product will allow in-market streaming at $99.99 a year, equivalent to Root Sports Stream a year ago. Cable/satellite broadcasts will continue as well. www.lookoutlanding.com/news/138537/...

Worth noting:
- Pujols only came back for a year.
- Kershaw when healthy stayed effective until he was done.
- Wainwright only fell off a cliff his last year.
- Yadi was a part timer his last year (he was still ok).
- Tigers were stuck with Miggy's massive contract so he had to be there.

Mets incidentally just claimed him from the Red Sox about a month ago. He got roster-crunched again. Had a mildly useful season as a mostly-starter swingman a couple seasons ago but has not been great in MLB otherwise. Out of options. M's maybe think they can fix him & make him a decent reliever.
The Mariners have acquired Cooper Criswell from the Mets, a source tells Jorge Castillo. Criswell had been designated for assignment.

I know it's Nightengale but... he's overselling tf out of those last three names. Of those three only Leiter has tangibly shown anything resembling full season reliability as a starter, and that was last year alone.
The Texas Rangers starting rotation should be quite formidable now and give them a shot at the postseason with Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, Mackenzie Gore, Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker and Jacob Latz.

Glad I don't have to see any more social media rosterbation about this guy anymore.

One silver lining of this increasingly crazy arms-race for talent between the Dodgers and Mets is that in turn it's helping make AL teams a bit weaker, which incrementally helps a Mariners team that has mostly stood pat this offseason.

Full trade, per ESPN sources:

The growing campaign for Felix Hernandez's HOF candidacy kind of surprises me. At least w/Edgar he had credible numbers to get in, his candidacy marginalized in the first place for silly reasons. Felix's numbers are inherently iffy thanks to his career collapse, but people can't look past his peak.

Go figure I move to Seattle during what's probably the mildest winter I've ever seen here. Certainly not bad! And yes we've got a couple months for things to turn. But polar vortex patterns this year seem to have perma-camped the cold shit over the Eastern US while we're getting warmer air.

Just as I sing Garmin's praises, they're 1015ing my Firefox browser this morning (after forcing me to re-log in several times yesterday), so I had to pivot to Chrome just to access the web portal. I'm just hoping some overpaid coder in Olathe screwed up, not them target-limiting my IP address.

Garmin makes a lot of changes I don't like. But adding food tracking (and in turn dumping the clunky MyFitnessPal) is one of the best features they've added in a long time, and it's long overdue.

I find it hard to imagine that Ben Williamson isn't on the table or that the Cardinals want any veteran major leaguers when they're actively blowing up their roster to rebuild and have no real intention to contend next year. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/12/mari...
