FREE READ: In-depth look at #LFC's unusual/naive pressing shape vs Sunderland, no pattern in build-up or on the ball, low quality of chances, Wirtz being good.

Not to be too down, but I don't think there is a "run of 5-6 wins" in this team this season. It is down to coaching too, as there isn't a single pattern of play that resonates with this group of players so far, and we are in December now. #LFC

Analysis with in-game clips & numbers from the West Ham-Liverpool game:

- Wirtz: Creative hub.
- Sacrificing output for defensive solidity on the right.
- Defending 22 set-piece situations well.

All of that and more are discussed in the piece.

The last 10 season avg for winning the #PremierLeague is 85 pts (2 pts above runners-up).

To get there, with 25 games each to go:

Arsenal need 55 pts at 2.2 ppg (18 W & 1 D)
Man City need 60 pts at 2.4 ppg (20 W)
Chelsea need 61 pts at 2.44 ppg (20 W & 1D)
LFC need 64 pts at 2.56 ppg (haha)

#LFC are starting both halves slowly, conceding the highest quality of chances in the first 15 mins compared to any of the past six seasons.

They improve in underlying nos in 31–45 & 76+, but usually chasing the game then.

Check out the data piece here: mizganmasani.substack.com/p/numbers-be...

In every key metric in the last two games, #LFC get worse in the second half compared to the first. For a team that was used to improving as the game went along, this is alarming.
And is it that they are not listening to half-time team talks anymore?

A data insight for before or after the PSV game!

#LFC's shooting has been awry this season & the conversion goes considerably worse when chasing the game (worst in recent times).
They are 4% down on six-yard box shot attempts.

That & more discussed here: transferhub.substack.com/p/the-number...

Between Forest's first goal and the full-time whistle:

xG: LFC - 0.92, NFO - 1.15
Shots on Target: LFC - 3, NFO - 5

Heads gone!

A slightly different data analysis approach on Antoine Semenyo, where I added context to his PL numbers since 23/24, what the areas of concern & strengths are & comparing him to #LFC forwards, past & present, on certain key metrics.

As we welcome back club football, here's #LFC's schedule with correct KO times till the end of January (barring the FA Cup tie).
Games with green boxes are the ones where preparation time is 4+ days.

Not a bad spread to have, if only the team were in decent form!

After a tough stretch in the PL & UCL comparatively, nine of #LFC's next 10 PL games look 'winnable'. But are they?

Could familiar issues for Slot’s team resurface? Low block isn't, but long balls could be.

A data deep-dive on what’s ahead.

Among U23 Wingers in top-5 EU Leagues, only two come up in the top-10 for both non-penalty G/A and proportion of carries into the opposition box:
1. Lamine Yamal
2. Yan Diomandé

No wonder Leipzig are demanding are big money for Diomandé. He has started this season on fire!

Since going out to PSG, and I have excluded the last 4 PL games of last season (post title win) & the two Carabao games of this season (not important to judge).

#LFC have played 21 games in PL, UCL & 2025 Carabao Final: won 13, drawn 0 & lost 8.
Scored: 39, conceded: 31, GD: 7

Back with a tactical & data piece on how Man City's midfield overload, them allowing Konate free space to start LFC's build-up sequence and nullifying the Reds' passing threat meant they could dominate & win the game in moments.

Win the PSV home game & the Inter game is not that important in the UCL.
But, eight of the next 10 #PremierLeague games are winnable on paper for #LFC.
Make or break period for Slot imo.
Win eight of the next 10 in the league & sneak a draw at Arsenal, we would hang in there!

43% of attacks from the left, pressing efficiency, faster ball progression in #UCL compared to La Liga. Adaptable in style, as shown vs Barcelona.

All that & more in the numbers article on what #LFC can expect from #RealMadrid tomorrow.

Aston Villa tried to play game on the floor, but #LFC are a better team in that aspect.

Slot's men were efficient (got deserved luck) & went back to basics with a two-man CM buildup.

All of that discussed in my tactical analysis piece.

While #LFC spent big over the summer to improve quality, they weakened squad depth by selling big.

Arsenal added quality without major sales, & City spent decently in Jan & summer to account for key departures.

A factual article on LFC's "big summer".
