My afternoon view. I've got a shot into the woods to my right and a shot into the field to my left. 30°F light south wind from my left to my right and heading slightly behind me. There is an open cow pasture behind me. And bedding is all out in front of me. #deer #hunting

Opening day morning report:
Fun encounter 7:30am: doe followed by a nice 8 point. She got to 50ish yards. Caught my scent. Flagged and trotted away with her boyfriend.
Other than that the only living things I saw was one squirrel and a pileated woodpecker. Lunch then back out.

I made it out 15 minutes before shooting time. Saw a few headlamps in the surrounding woodlots. Wind is dead calm. 29°F Photo is with night view enhancement. It's not that light out yet.

Opening day of deer season is here.
I realized when I got up that I probably didn't leave enough time to walk/feed dogs, take water to the chickens, eat breakfast, have a morning constitutional, finish packing and make it to my spot before legal shooting time. 🤦♀️😂😝

Waking up to 36°. Rain snow mix and winds gusting 30-40 mph today. It would sure be nice to sneak a dog run in sometime today because it's opening day of deer season eve and they will be housebound tomorrow.

One of my extra roosters that I had a local Amish woman butcher recently is in the crockpot for a slow cook to make broth and cook the meat to pull. I'll make chicken noodle soup once the broth is cooked, cooled, fat skimmed and strained.
Meanwhile, Thanksgiving leftovers for dinner.😋

Had a flurry of activity this morning. Took hubby to his doctor's appointment and then we made a WalMart run. Picked up the dogs from where I boarded them on Thanksgiving holiday. Just ate lunch. I was starving! Now I feel a nap coming on. Both dogs & hubby are already napping.😂

We only got about 2" of snow thankfully. I was outside shoveling and salting the sidewalk to the house this morning and a flock of tundra swans flew over. It was beautiful. 🥰🥰🥰

Happy Friday all! Looks like we are going to have highs in the low 30s for the next 10 days at least. Normal highs are in the 40s. Going to be a chilly deer gun season next week.
