We know how important community can be in difficult times. We wanted to let you know that Minnesota Roller Derby will be moving forward with our bout, Skaters of Blood and Bone, on Saturday evening. Safety remains our number one priority in a community gathering: we will have extra support, security, and signage in place to keep our skaters, guests, and fans safe. With the ongoing threat of terrorism by ICE in the Twin Cities, keep an eye on our pages for any updates. Since supplemental SNAP benefits have been taken away from Minnesotans in need, we are also holding a food and supplies drive in our lobby on bout night. We encourage everyone to bring nonperishable food items and hygiene items for donation. With skaters representing all parts of the metro and beyond, MNRD stands with the people of the Twin Cities, and communities across the state and nation. No one is illegal on stolen land. Minnesota Roller Derby strongly condemns the presence of ICE in our community.
What’s happening in the Twin Cities and across the nation is beyond unacceptable.

Support two members of our local derby community recently impacted by ICE:

The murder of Renee Good, abduction of community members, and sustained acts of violence in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the metro area at the hands of ICE agents this week is unacceptable. No person, organization, or powers that be have the right to instill fear or terrorize our community in the ways we’ve seen in our own backyard. What’s happening in Minneapolis, Portland, and beyond is unacceptable. Minnesota Roller Derby strongly condemns the presence of ICE in our community. We ask you to support those impacted by ICE, stay safe while protesting, and remain informed of what’s going on in your community. Minnesota Roller Derby remains committed to the values that make us who we are. Nowhere does xenophobia, fascism, or racism fit into that picture. We will protect everyone when they come to our spaces. You belong here. A North Star Roller Derby member and those partner were abducted by ICE agents. Luckily, they have both been released form custody but suffered injuries while being detained. If you have the means, please consider donating to their GoFundMe to support them.
