That’s exactly who I referenced for this piece, haha! Glad it came through.

I tried to emulate the Disney style for this Lottie art. Not sure if I love it but it was a fun experiment

16- Midnight Mass

Started as “pretty good” and ended as “holy shit this is peak”. This limited series is fucking fantastic, ESPECIALLY if you have religious trauma, specifically with Christianity, like I do! So many good characters in this series, and lots of fun details to pick up on throughout.

15- The Bad Guys 2

Dreamworks animation is running the game. Their movies are so beautiful as of late. Really fun and lively animation in this one, and quite a few jokes that got me to laugh. The big bad’d motivations were kinda…??? But it’s a kid’s movie so it’s forgivable. I need butch pig also

14- The Cat in the Hat

Unfortunately a nostalgic movie for me since I watched this thing nonstop as a kid. The jokes are somehow funnier to me as an adult. YouTube Poop culture has ruined me.

The fact my fiancè and I were both nearly falling asleep towards the end is a testament to our age, though

-and that was enough to keep me reading. But a lot of plot points were just ??? and I can’t get over what conclusion I got from the narrative.
Props to the cover artist for this book though. The cover’s absolutely gorgeous.

-in my mouth. Not saying that this message was what the author actually intended but to me, it felt like what the narrative was saying.
There were some cool concepts in this book. I really adored the Queen and wished we got to see more of her. Some character moments were heartfelt and profound-

-bad for anyone.
The book’s depiction of feminism is questionable to me, and even if not intended, seems to imply that there’s a right way to be a woman, and it’s being the complete opposite of patriarchal standards. Which…idk. As a feminist who likes being kind, it kinda left a sour taste-

13- Lucy Undying by Kiersten White

I almost had a fun time with this one, but the narrative being so heavy handed regarding the message was annoying to me as a reader. The main characters would get so whiny at times that I couldn’t feel sympathy for them even in situations where I’d normally feel-

-of AI in this movie is shockingly resonant today. Like, gift of Apollo levels of resonant, given this movie came out in 2009.
I can already tell that this movie is a classic in my heart. I enjoyed every second of it. Absolutely love portrayals of strong women in media 🩷

12- Summer Wars

If you told me the general plot beats of this movie, I would have no idea how they could work together. But this film manages that, and does it excellently.
The whimsical animation and gripping character relationships really kept me locked in the entire time.
Also the portrayal-

11- Re-Animator
The aesthetics here were super cool! Herbert West is a disgusting little freak that belongs in a sewer and I adore him for that.
Really didn’t like how Megan was written to be 100 percent unable to do anything to protect herself, but it’s an 80s horror movie. Fork found in kitchen.

The idea of vampire dinosaurs is horrifying though, and a lot more fun than this movie was

10- Jurassic World Rebirth
I got so bored during this that I started thinking about Hellsing and got so lost in my imagination that I got confused that a dinosaur could be killed with non-Macedonian silver bullets. My wires got a little crossed because of how checked out I was 😬

9- The Reformatory by Tananarive Due
I do not want to say too much about this book because I want everyone to read it. Absolutely stellar book, the first one I’ve given five stars to on Goodreads as far as I can remember. The true horror in this book comes from reality- not fiction.
