you can’t go wrong with rancho gordo. lately i’ve also been enjoying primary beans and other smaller producers on shopfoodocracy.com. some personal fave varieties: rio zape, alubia blanca, santanero negro delgado. heirloom bean broth is magical!

soup is my favorite. i eat it all year. every week i make something i call wizard soup. it’s always a little different but i’ve always got my cauldron and wooden spoon, a pound of heirloom beans, onions, garlic, carrots, celery and then it’s just what i have around and vibes. soup is pure magic.

creating Your Art, whatever it is, is an important part of being human. fuck labels, fuck expectations, fuck judgment, fuck that overachiever shitbrain. you are a human being, not a content creator. you have created so much that is worthy and you will create so much more

however, if you don’t want to write A Novel, that also kicks ass. you are still a Real Writer. write analysis! write short stories! write little drabbles! most Real Musicians don’t write symphonies and most Real Writers don’t write novels. the point is expressing the unique things in you because

now that you are already a Real Writer, ask yourself - do you really want to write A Novel? if so, yes, you need to continue after that first sweet 100 pages. you need to continue on those days where getting 250 words out feels like absolute torture, because some days, the flow returns again

it feels like you have put a lot of stock in this notion that to be a Real Writer you must write A Novel and that writing must be done in some sort of ideal flow state. if that is true, there are no Real Writers in this world. you are already a Real Writer, despite your shitbrain’s machinations
