Regular reminder for folks reporting on federal courts that there are two different Judges Ho (Dale / SDNY, James / 5th Cir), with two different judicial philosophies. Remember it this way:

When your Judge Ho is Dale, your claims might not fail.
When your Judge Ho is Jim, your chances are grim.

A 3rd circuit judge was skeptical this AM of the gov’s arg that NJ shouldn’t have jurisdiction over Mahmoud Khalil’s habeas petition as he was in Louisiana when it was filed (unbeknownst to his attys)

Just in -- SDNY Judge Lew Kaplan has extended a TRO blocking the Trump administration from giving anti-terrorism funds requested by the MTA to other states b/c of NYC's sanctuary status. He consolidated the NYAG’s motion for a preliminary injunction with the trial on the merits.
