Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of flooding in the Philippines. I'd argue what we're seeing in the country now is a good example of a climate security risk -- government corruption preventing investment in adaptation (flood control) leading to massive street protests.

I wasn't able to join but everyone who did is fighting a good fight. When Duterte was president, this sort of action didn't happen. So to see people active and voicing out their displeasure en masse is a beautiful sight to see.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the People Power Revolution that ousted the Marcos dictatorship (current president's father, figure that) and people nationwide took to the streets. Not just in Manila but EVERYWHERE.

Large anti corruption protests in the Philippines are underway.

Triggered by deadly floods which exposed $2billion lost to corruption in flood defence projects some of which didn't exist at all.

RIP Shunsaku Tamiya, age 90, the chairman of legendary modelmaker Tamiya. He didn't found the company, but started working there in 1958, just four years after its founding, and helped it shift from its original line of wooden models into the plastic kits it is so well known for today.
