One time I registered a company with a dumb name and then the house of lords talked about it and enabled me to kick that dead horse for many years. Also I hack stuff sometimes but that is seemingly of secondary importance. :>

lldb probably better but is there a cooler tool I don't know about? assume I don't want a heavyweight ide experience like ghidra or ida

Is there a Linux debugger that is more suited than gdb to be run non-interactively? Say I have a process and 1000 files, and I want to run the process under GDB for each of the 1000 files and do *stuff* - it can be done with batch mode etc. but it feels clunky.

the worst version of the pissing/shitting is 'its like this because its on console' because like, no
February 6, 2025 at 4:28 PM
but like, whatever, they will fix all this stuff post launch, its civ right? i dunno why everyone is so mad about it, i guess, we know these games have a long lifecycle, we chillin
February 6, 2025 at 4:26 PM
i haven't played the game for more than an hour or so yet so i don't know how well it translates into gameplay but even from that hour it felt more difficult to see clearly what was going on in the game which doesn't bode well for later in the game when things are more complicated
February 6, 2025 at 4:25 PM
honestly i would bet good money the actual reason is just 'we thought we would have time to return to these issues and then ran out of development time'
February 6, 2025 at 4:24 PM
'feels clunky' is a good sum-up imo. it's not one big thing, it's like a lot of little issues - things don't line up, weird inconsistent fonts/placing of ui elements, general lack of attention to detail type issues

it feels like a programmer made it and didn't have a real UX guy on board lol
February 6, 2025 at 4:24 PM
I must admit the UI kind of shocked me

I'm not joining the haters yet it's far far too early and I have faith

But my god that UI

Hot take: nihilism is as bad as fascism, and not the same as realism. Things are terrible, will take years and immense effort to fix. However, bleating "doomed, might as well die" is one thing to say to yourself but a whole other matter to say to a generation of kids. It's our responsibility to try.

Perhaps if he had not spent so much time playing video games so that he could be the #1 video game player he would know that the answer to this question is "All of them."

there’s going to be lots of scary and dubious security advice floating around for the foreseeable future. if you only remember 2 things, remember these:

- someone who doesn’t know your threat model can’t give you sound advice

- surveillance is a suppression tool; if it’s stopping you, it’s working

There was an actual official *framework* for these things?!

I figured they were all just yoloing it
