• The Sandman last tangled with the Fantastic Four in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #657 when he, the Trapster, and the Wizard briefly reformed the Frightful Four with the Beetle. Most recently, the Sandman had escaped captivity and was defeated by Spider-Man in Webspinners: Tales of Spider-Man #8–9.

• Ka-Zar tells reporters that he has come to America in order to discuss matters with his lawyer. He is referring to Matt Murdock -- aka Daredevil -- who became Ka-Zar's lawyer following the events of Daredevil #12 – Daredevil #14, when Murdock helped Ka-Zar reclaim his family fortune.
