For a long time there was a "damsel in distress" trend in media. It was replaced by "badass damsel can save themself!" trend, which I also find problematic.

Witch's Prince is a story about asking for help when you need it.

Normalize self-advocacy with community support.

Realizing that manifestation ideology is rooted in privilege and ableism really made a lot click for me. There's no "delulu is the solulu" when your disability snaps you awake with a punch to the gut.

I cried a lot last night and woke up with a puffy face, so I was worried about what excuse to make at work if I got questioned about it. Turns out I'm alone in the office today!! I'll take that blessing, thank you.

Scarlet spends the entire novel trying to convince Lumienne that his needs are more important than his wants, and Lumienne spends the entire novel being like "yeah but what if I'm right and you're wrong?"

The novel would become a far gentler, more predictable read. The meaning would be erased. My mc is not as immune to influence as they believe they are.
