I was a Conor Lamb guy. I voted for Fetterman over Dr. Oz, obviously. But Fetterman was not my first choice by any stretch of the imagination.

If he accepted that $50k, he did, indeed, do something illegal. So again, I ask: did he accept the $50k?

Summer is such a thoughtful little girl. She gave me her Kent Tekulve autographed ball. 😢

Conor Lamb was the better option. 😔

Somehow, the name of my Italian great grandparents went from Abbruzzese to Thomas. Figure that one out.

Jim Crow essentially started in 1896 with Plessy v. Ferguson, but really ramped up in the 1920s.

That’s pretty much how it worked. My great grandmother came through Canada first. But that’s the only difference.

“My ancestors immigrated the right way.”

Bro, restrictions on immigrants from Europe were practically non-existent prior to the 1920s.

You can leave and beat the traffic, or you can stick around and beat your meat.

And the FSU fans are trying to beat traffic.

My first semester at Carolina, I had a 2.9 GPA, which seemed like the end of the world because I had a 3.9 in community college. But my cohort, veterans and younger transfer students alike, had similar issues. We adapted and overcame because we were able to shake the imposter syndrome.

I’m sure that’s some of it. As proud of my service as I am, it’s not something I advertise a lot. It’s only part of who I am. Another struggle is a lot of veterans don’t like to seek help. I don’t think they realize how much of a difference being part of a community can help.

We had an excellent veterans resource center. I’m not sure what they had for other adult learners, though. And getting veterans to participate can be like herding cats. We attracted veterans with Taco Tuesday. That is my claim to fame. That was my idea. As far as I know, they still do it.

We had a bunch of veterans in the cohort, though. And most of use were NCOs in the military. And as an enlisted leader, most of your subordinates were college age. So it was sort of natural for our cohort to coexist with the younger students. I loved it.

Man. That sounds like a great way to reach the adult learners. With Carolina’s program, there were obviously adult learners. But, there were also kids who went straight from school to community college and then transferred. And we built a community with them, too.

Carolina had a summer program for transfer and non traditional students. It really helped me. The opportunities are out there. You just have to take them.
