Got Stemulus down to under 3% CPU on a particularly dense rhythm game chart. Guess I didn’t have much to worry about. I’ll put money on the UI rendering taking more CPU time than the actual game logic (field sorting, note judgement, autoplay)
Lua based UI will further dwarf it I imagine.

Finally got long notes working in Stemulus tonight. I also put in a speed setting. This required rethinking how I did rendering. Before, I was just able to take a time slice of the game field. But it gets a little more complex when dealing with time spans.

This rhythm game project is probably the first time I've gotten really deep into immutable data structures. I thought it'd be a huge waste since you're having to make a lot of copies of things. But as a result, I've been able to avoid multi-threading pitfalls during pretty much the entire process.

Without changing any of the code, I created a map that changes it to appear in O2Jam column mode if you have a 7-key chart without using the scratch. Just something fun to do with the new theming capabilities.

One step closer to actually theming Stemulus. This has opened the door to user-defined game modes too - you'd just define your own column mappings, layouts and visual style - though I probably won't get too deep into that myself. I just want to be able to add familiar ones easily.
