it's been said so many times but i love the extremely obvious slippery slope argument. yes, we're going to ban GTA from our site, a literally-approved-by-a-ratings-board blockbuster. my evidence of this is [violently shits pants, falls over into fetal position, begs for mods to delete me]

this jostled out an old memory of mine; back in elementary school we had one of those tv cart days. they showed a video, and one part of it was a camcorder video of a car in front that was driving down roads, shooting people on bicycles with paintballs

as someone who routinely occupies this space, there is nothing funnier for a while than occupying someone's head rent-free over stuff like this. nothing stops you from writing a blog post about how you think slur-filled ROM hacks are good, bud! it took me like an hour

retroachievements users continue to be normal, well-adjusted folks

this meltdown is over three games getting banned, two of which are ROM hacks

Been seeing it very consistently in the past few days.
Decided to request my own account for deletion, as this ridiculous crack down isn't in the service of those who actually use the site regularly.
Good on those who spoke out.
We got princesses who don't have a single achievement here, and yet got to dictate the direction RA will be heading in. I think we know why that is.

It's unfortunate, I hope the Wii roll out and Xkeeper were worth it, Scott.
What they did to you wasn't fair, but your response will only invite more of this in the future.

i think some level of value comes from being able to see how things were back then, certainly for the case of like, news and commentary (both stuff commenting on it, and news that embeds links); basically ensured link-rot after a year or two or three

it is something interesting to think about, for sure. but i think posting somewhere *knowing* your stuff is gone after a while would discourage a good amount of posting. it's one thing when stuff just up and dies for whatever, it's another if you know it's coming

this is me pontificating on the costs of social media hosting, and how easy it is to have costs run up out of control from "normal" use

e.g. one bot here might be nothing, but there's more than one "hourly picture" bot, and several that post more frequently ... and that's pics, too, not video
