On MacOS, video stalls if I open the top menu, but audio callbacks continue, so autoplay will happily play the wrong sounds as a result of this until I closed the menu.

I also found an interesting bug.

Key sound changes are processed on the video thread, but autoplay is on the audio thread (for the tight timing), so if video stalls, sometimes the key sound doesn’t change in time and the wrong sound is played. Oops.

Still not sure which binding of Lua I’d like to use for this. There’s a few for .NET and they all work slightly differently. I used MoonSharp for a while.

That’s 3% with the current renderer, which blasts ImGui. That won’t be the case once I get this themed with Lua and rendering directly with SDL.

It’s the stock rollercoaster scream sound effect used in Rollercoaster Tycoon for me

Oooh, this is exciting!

Yup. I’m binding to SDL through “ppy/SDL3-CS”.

I owe a lot of my own involvement in O2Jam to Falk, who had the immense patience of dealing with me when I was just graduating high school. He was a good advocate and went along with some really crazy ideas to expedite breaking into the song list. We asked forgiveness rather than permission.

It is wonderful to see that many artists who contributed to the game back then went on to find success in many other rhythm games or advanced their career somehow. There are some names and songs I see time and again that I first saw in O2Jam.

O2Jam today and O2Jam decades ago are two very different things, and I haven't been in touch with anyone related to the franchise in about 20 years. It is not so easy to connect the dots in between - after eGames was dissolved, it's hard to know all the hands the rights were in since

For now, yes. ImGui makes it easy to throw in interactive test controls. Once I'm done prototyping and put together a rudimentary skin, it'll be done using SDL directly instead of with primitive lists inside a window.
