Hi, I'm Duncan! I'm a pharmaceuticals engineer in my 50s living in the Chicago area. I post about food, road trips (often with my blind border collie, Charlie), m/m romances (paranormal/contemporary), asexuality, and werewolves. Oh, and I've helped run a large furry convention for the last 25 years.
A photo of Charlie, a brown and white border collie, and Duncan. Charlie's right ear is standing up and his left ear is flopped over, a trademark of his perpetual cuteness.

after millions of views and shares of my Portland Frog art. (thank you all🙏🏾) I got requests to highlight priests, and chickens, and Chicagoans, and T-Rexes, and more… all of us who refuse to bend the knee. so this is for US.

Paul Hollywood would be scandalized by my babka-shaping skills, but you can cover a multitude of sins with streusel 🙂

I loved the heck out of this series, and this is a fantastic deal. This is the first trilogy of an ongoing series of trilogies, with a different couple the focus of each trilogy. Also, these definitely aren't horror books, they're m/m paranormal mysteries/romances with fabulous queer rep throughout.

The finished chocolate babkas! I hope they taste as good as they smelled while baking 😋

"It's very loud here and there are so many people and I just want to run OK?"

Oh gods, we have those all over my neighborhood. Nothing like that first time walking the dog past a tree and thinking, "What in HELL?"

Next up: Protest bouncy castles!

Continuing last night's baking adventure (after a 12-hour rise in the refrigerator): Chocolate Babkas are coming together! This is an enriched dough, which is different from my usual recipe. I think it'll be good, but man is it super-elastic! It made rolling it out to the right size a challenge.

This is the start of Chocolate Babka! It'll rise overnight in the fridge, then get assembled and baked tomorrow.

It’s Duncan’s Experience Paradox*, somehow obtaining a graduate degree makes you simultaneously under- and over-qualified.

* which I just made up but should totally be a thing.
duncandahusky.wolfhusky.org
But that masters degree that we worked for really helped! Right? Right? <sob>

Ah, the joys of dogs getting lumpy as they grow older. Glad to hear he's home and recovering!

Personally, it's one of my favorite werewolf books, but everyone has their own tastes 🙂I can see where Levi is coming from, though.

Huh. Apparently it is. thegoodshirts.com/search?q=fur...

These days anyone can harvest images and sell T-shirts, of course. The more surprising thing is seeing them printed and available in a brick-and-mortar store.

Charlie has been fussy about his food this week, to the point where I was worried his appetite was gone. To test that, I cooked up some ground chicken and mixed that with rice. Well, I can say for certain that his appetite is just fine!

Oh gosh, you have all of my sympathies. I hope all the best for him (and you)!

Totally fair. Klune has a very distinct, sometimes stylized, writing style that can become grating at times. While I've enjoyed many of his other books, some of them (like the Tales of Verania series) were damn near unreadable for me.

Woo! I hope you have a great time. I'm jealous - I'd sure as hell rather be there than sitting at my desk.

I'm watching the second season of The Devil's Plan on Netflix. I forgot that some of these games must have been created by someone who thought, "German board games are fun, but what I really want is something *more* complicated!"
