Calling the police to say "thank God you're arresting that guy, everyone knows he's a sex trafficker" makes you a villain in the story, flat out. It means that despite knowing someone was a sex trafficker, you said nothing until you learned he was already going down for the crime
People are running with this story as Trump did some noble thing. He reported him because he was pissed off he stole a minor who was working at Mar a Lago, then Trump denied knowing anything for another two decades
