Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Alright! for the second question, I want to start with the good—think about your BEST moment/experience with a Shakespeare play in the classroom?

Which moment from which play? #SundayMacbethChat

Okay, #SundayMacbethChat officially begins...now! Today we're going to step back and think about Shakespeare much more broadly before zooming in on Macbeth Act 1 next week.

Q1: What is your favorite all-time line from a Shakespeare play?

(Fun way to introduce yourself, right?)

Tomorrow morning we begin #SundayMacbethChat — ironically, with a conversation that is not just about Macbeth!

We'll be sharing our broader thoughts on Shakespeare in the classroom—what we love, what we struggle with, what we wonder.

Begins at 9am EST, but you can reply all day! ✍️

There's no responsiveness because it's clear the purpose isn't to teach kids, it's to "get through" the curriculum.

There's never a charge to maintain fidelity to children, there is only fidelity to the curriculum.

My Kindergarten child’s elementary school principal told us at a parent event that this is the first year they haven’t given kinder kids Chromebooks and the plan is to hold out as long as they can to begin phasing out early elem Chromebook use.

I couldn’t be more grateful.

This week, I reflect on a learning experience I designed a few years ago, and what fully listening to music can do to keep us human and connected with each other. #TeacherSky #EduSky #SubstackSky

is it just teachers who have to say “I noticed” before giving even the mildest critical feedback? I’ve stopped doing this & instead say things like “we need to get better at” (especially with students) because it’s more direct and communicates that I’m confident in my feedback AND their ability
