This week in The Den these learners worked together to follow a recipe to make their own playdough. They had to read and measure carefully and then they chose which colour they wanted to add. #DunipaceDen @mrscrerar.bsky.social @mrscupplesdps.bsky.social

Our P1 learners have been consolidating their SATPIN sounds through a fun and creative colouring activity. Fantastic to see growing confidence in identifying and using their new sounds! 🎨🔤

Chess has been a very popular activity in the Den this week. I've had my own knowledge and skills put to the test when coaching them through the moves.♟️ Chess supports problem-solving, resilience, critical thinking, numeracy, and communication skills — all key priorities of the curriculum.

These learners enjoyed time in the Den this week. They loved the football table and playing shops and planned their next activity. They wanted to bake so they researched a recipe and wrote a list of ingredients and when they came the next day they followed the recipe to make chocolate chip cookies.

These learners helped me set up the Book Fair and then spent some time in the Den. They achieved their name on the recognition board. By keeping our classroom tidy and looking after resources, we are respecting our right to learn #Article28 and helping each other enjoy our right to play #Article31

These learners enjoyed some time in the Den this week and did some painting. After finishing they displayed their completed art work on the Wonderful Work wall. They worked hard to get their names added to the Recognition Board by looking after the resources and tidying up the Den. #DunipaceUNCRC

P1s number of the week has been number 9!

So proud of everyone’s number formation. We danced to the 9 song and were quizzed on our rhyme. Draw a curve and then a line that’s how we draw number nine! 9️⃣

Some P1 and P3 learners were learning how to safely make a fire 🔥 They learned that fire needs, oxygen, fuel and a heat source and learned how to stack the wood and add the firelighters inside the circle. They also learned to stay behind the safety circle of bricks when toasting their marshmallows.

Using chalk, P1s created life-sized body outlines, colourful houses, and even roads to follow.
“This is my road - you can drive on it!” and “Look, I’ve made a door for my house!” 🏠🚗 One learner proudly said, “That’s me on the ground - I’m taller than I thought!”👤 @mrsguidori.bsky.social

Today some P1s picked apples from our school orchard. They spent the morning making delicious apple crumble and then made some custard before tasting their delicious pudding 🤤 Each week a different group will have the chance to take part in a cooking experience 👨‍🍳 @missmckechnie.bsky.social

During circle time P1 learned four very important listening rules👂 I wonder who can remember them all?! We also played a game of wink wink sleep and I was very impressed with the careful looking and concentration shown. Absolute superstars! 🌟

P1 didn't let the rain this afternoon stop them from enjoying some time outdoors. "Look I found a wee worm" "Let's get this all scrubbed clean!" They were still having a blast cleaning and scrubbing - maybe mums and dad's can use some of this enthusiasm at home! 😜 @missmckechnie.bsky.social

Every day after lunch P1 do a relaxation activity to help them calm down and refocus after running around in the playground. We love the rainbow breathing video but today we tried body scanner for the first time. Check out the link to try at home youtu.be/xLoK5rOl8Qk?... @missmckechnie.bsky.social

Thank you very much to the @mrsadonnelly.bsky.social and P7 for helping P1 to sign in to Sumdog for the first time! They helped P1 to complete their diagnostic assessments and to create their avatars. P1 will now be able to use Sumdog to practise their maths skills. @missmckechnie.bsky.social

P1 enjoyed outdoor learning this afternoon. Some children chose to use the scrubbing brushes and soapy water to wash the windows "Look, we're mini janitors again!" Some chose to play in the water tray, using the water to refill the spray bottles, while others were climbing the trees. #DunipacePlay
