America’s problem is assholes with guns. You can never tell what is going to trigger an asshole with a gun but the fact that they have access to lethal weapons is an issue this society has basically refused to confront in any meaningful way for years and that is why assholes are able to act out.

On January 6th thousands of native born Americans who had been radicalized by no less a figure than the person occupying the White House launched a terrorist attack on our democracy. The instigator later issued a blanket pardon for more than 1,600 of them who had been convicted of a crime.

Is America about to allow a dementia patient to launch a war against Venezuela? I grant you that Venezuela is a rotten authoritarian state that is run for the profit of its ruler, but so is Russia. So is Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately there are many such states and I must ask has America become one?
