Been thinking about when AI helps us teach better and when it chips away at our craft. Tried Claude.ai to build a Pomodoro and exam timer; learned a bit about tools, a lot about balance.

AI, Me and Claude (But Mostly Me)
OK, first thing’s first, I am not a huge fan of AI. At the same time, I find it insanely useful; not in the way students sometimes use it to dodge learning, but in the way it can handle tasks that sit well outside my skill set or that do not require deep conceptual understanding. For example, I need to know how to write, and I need to keep that muscle strong.

Supporting Student Success in IB Chemistry: Exam Practice, Feedback, and the Power of Knowing What to Expect
Hi Team, at the Central West Leadership Academy, we believe that feedback is one of the most powerful tools we can give students on their learning journey. It builds confidence, sharpens understanding, and, most importantly, gives students clarity about their next steps. In our International Baccalaureate (IB) program, where inquiry, rigour and reflection sit at the core of student growth, quality feedback is not just helpful.

Just posted a new blog reflecting on Embracing MESSY Leadership (by Alyssa Gallagher & Rosie Connor) and what it means for school leaders trying to balance relationships, wellbeing, and all the “stuff” that needs doing.

Reflections on Chapter 1 of Embracing MESSY Leadership: Balancing the Human Side of Leadership
First in a series inspired by our SLT book club Our fearless leader has introduced a Leadership Book Club as part of our executive team’s professional development. I'm very excited. First on the roster is Embracing MESSY Leadership by Alyssa Gallagher and Rosie Connor. A few chapters in, the book is proving engaging - thankfully avoiding the trap of feeling like an overextended blog post.

I have a lot of thoughts about calling anxiety around Mathematics Math's Anxiety. Mostly that we shouldn't.
However, anxiety and math's do overlap quite a lot and I think this scaffold while simple will be a nice reminder for a lot of teachers. #edusky

Look, as a #chemistryteacher I find good questions like this are great at centering myself when I get stressed. School starts tomorrow, stress was rising, this helped.
It just forces other things out of my mind & makes me present as I do the silly low stakes #chemistry #math problem #iteachChem

Alright #chesspunks, what's the psychology I wonder between me tilting games consistently on my phone but when on a desktop I win closer to 55% at the rating I'm on thanks to my phone tilts? Note that this rating is still super low and an inconsistent player.
