Oh, yeah, great call on Army of Shadows. When that hit in 2006 it was such a huge deal in NYC. Same with La Samourai about a decade earlier.

On the other side, Raging Bull is still well-regarded but for a long time it was regarded as Scorsese's masterpiece. Same with Godfather II.
Woody Allen has fallen off. That could be related to his creepiness, but people still love Polanski's 60s and 70s films.

Killer of Sheep was more or less impossible to see before 2007. Wanda was also pretty rare. Beau Travail was hard to find before the Criterion release. Same with The Devil, Probably.

A striking thing about articles I’ve read claiming to “study the effects” of generative AI on student writing skills and consumption of information is that (1) they nearly always find the effects are negative and (2) most “conclusions” are still written assuming that we must use AI, for some reason.
