And both Lucas and Roddenberry needed ppl to tell them no with the movies. The ones where Roddenberry fueded with the directors are some of the best sci-fi EVER

I think they both have great concepts and storylines but fail on the execution. Both capitalized on the excitement of a renewed franchise and I think that clouded everyone's judgement on NEEDING to execute
