I feel like I'm getting all of my news about this online. Television news media really isn't news -- it's just a few headlines, a bit of conjecture, topped with diversion.

Well, PBS News Hour isn't bad. I get most of my news from reading AP articles online...when I have the fortitude to do so.

As a kid who used to get sick in the middle of summer, and a mature adult who has faced loss, I totally get it. When you are facing a loss during a time when others are celebrating life, it's a special type of sadness. Sadness is expected in the fall and winter; it's not expected in the summer.

While I like to use semicolons, I believe I would have chosen the em-dash where you placed yours.

I was once a repeat comma-splice offender. Em-dashes and semicolons were an important part of my recovery.

[I considered joining those last two sentences with a semicolon; I resisted. Ha!]
