Give Me Back My Man
Song by The B-52s ‧ 1980
I read a probably apocryphal story that this is a song about a shark who'd kill someone?

B 52's - Give Me Back My Man • TopPop
The B-52s (styled as The B-52's prior to 2008) are an American new wave band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. The original line-up consisted of Fred Schneider (vocals, percussion), Kate Pierson (vocals, keyboards), Cindy Wilson (vocals, percussion), Ricky Wilson (guitar), and Keith Strickland (drums, guitar, keyboards). Ricky Wilson died from AIDS-related illness in 1985, and Strickland switched from drums to lead guitar. The band also added touring members for albums and live performances. This song was recently covered by Juno Birch, a confused alien housewife from the ‘60s with over 200,000 Instagram followers. Juno Birch, who looks like she just fell out of the sky and is trying to blend in as a human, is a drag artist with one of the most unique styles attached to her name. So on Haloween night I'd gone to bed only to be woken by the police who'd kicked down my front door which I was a bit annoyed. I was talking to the police from under a duvet asking them what the fuck are you doing? My front door is still boarded up and I've been a prisoner in my own house for days

Got to the supermarket check-out to discover that my debit card no longer works? It's contactless and had reached that point where you have to enter the PIN, the machine won't recognise the card chip? Walked to the bank in the pouring rain in Bootle, of all places, who just cancelled my card. Ho-hum

I went to a tiny village primary school in rural Norfolk ('77-'83) and I remember we had a school music festival which I'm assuming was a way for the cluster of small village schools in my area to be lumped together to receive the bare minium of musical education. Did everyone have the same lessons?

Just had to shut the cat out of the room for a while as it was driving me crazy clambering all over me when I'm trying to do some work (erm... watching Blake's 7 episodes). Think it's the sound of the rain, wind and stormy weather outside that turns it into a bit of a pain in the arse!

That moment when you've discovered a new band you've never heard of before and then the daunting realisation that they already have 28 studio albums. I thought 'The Brian Jonestown Massacre' (20 albums) and 'King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard' (27 albums) were bad enough but The Oh Sees/Osees with 28?

I've finally cancelled my Amazon Prime membership. This isn't a grand virtue-signalling gesture but rather the reaction to the fact that I've been paying £8.99 per month for something I've rarely used since I took up the introductory offer (£4.99) just to watch Star Trek: Picard.

Whenever I mention this cartoon to my peers which I remember watching early Saturday mornings on probably Anglia telly, they never seem to remember it? The 'Space Sentinels', originally called "The Young Sentinels" but hastily renamed to cash in on the success of the 1977 Star Wars phenomenon.

I remember when I left home for the first time, living in a student house and being young we'd stay up all night doing y'know, dumb stuff that students do. Anyway, when we'd finally crash, around 6am these cartoons would be on the telly channel 4, I think?

Whilst you were all sleeping like normal people, I learnt that Orac, the snooty super-computer from Blake's 7 could reduce his size down to an 8th when the plot deemed it necessary of course.

Why's everyone talking about "The Rapture", have I missed something whilst I was asleep? - Has anyone asked Fab 5 Freddy what's going on?

"Country of The Isle of Ely"? I'm betting this is a case of someone's parent or relative who'd emigrated and their children not really sure where in the 'Old Country' they originally came from? This is actually a distant relative of mine from the Fens who emigrated to Western Australia.

Couple of weeks ago when I was watching documentaries and films about NYC painter Jean-Michel Basquiat, I checked out the 1979 experimental industrial band he formed with performance artist Michael Holman called "Gray". I found their CD "Shades of..."

"Hope be Humble" is the graffiti tag you constantly see around #Liverpool now. I can trace it from my house all the way down to the Dock Road. It reminds me of constantly doing the L'pool to Norfolk train journey and from Sheffield onwards all you'd see out the window was "FISTA" or "FISTO".

Obviously this is a bit of a tourist gimmick now but "jip", "lollop", "lummox","barney", "...on my wick" are pretty well-known UKwide? I grew up in the Fens and quite a few of these I remember older people saying when I was younger especially "rummun", "suffen savage" and we all say "hint".

I'm waiting until 11am when my half-price electricity kicks in till 4pm, to try these frozen Sayers sausage rolls for the 1st time. This is a bit niche to #Liverpool but I really miss Sayers, their sausage rolls were way superior than Greggs, in fact the Greggs on my (County) road closed years ago.

It's definitely starting to feel autumnal now as it's dark already, it's getting colder and I can hear distant fireworks going off which is like the soundtrack to living in Liverpool.

It's kinda strange talking with your 2nd cousin 2x removed who I've never met but I know all their/our family while they didn't even know me or my side of the same family existed?

I have no idea what the hell 'pumpkin spice' is but I'm guessing Aldi supermarket own brand Pumpkin Spice fabric conditioner is just a step too far?

I'd forgot about the infamous 12 mins long Beastie Boys gig which end in violence in my adoptive city of Liverpool back in 1987, I should ask around to see if I know anyone who went? Didn't know about them getting screwed over on royalties cash for their debut album 'Licensed To Ill' (1986)

Spent the day watching films and documentaries about NY artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988). David Bowie in a wig portrays Andy Warhol in the movie Basquiat (1996) and I think Courtney Love is meant to be Madonna who had a relationship with Basquiat in the 80s before she was famous herself.
