🧡 IPv6 forever, NAT is evil

NetBSD (or any OS) in place of any remote Linux host: https://cloudbsd.xyz
Just realised the extend of the modern EV DLC systems.

“Unlock a feature your already physically have for £60 a month”

“If you sell your car the next owner will have to pay again for the option”

“You will own nothing and be happy”

🤮

This is the world we live in.
I’m depressed.

SSDs are pretty reliable in a technical sense.

That is, unless you make a really, really bad mistake in firmware.

HP had a line of ~20 different Enterprise SSD models for datacenter use.

In exactly 3 years, 270 days and 8 hours, every one is irrecoverably bricked.

Out of the RHEL clones I really like Almalinux.

Preserve x86_64v2 and now enable CRB repos by default.

It is really awesome.

Actually I kinda like the design of it.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

By helping someone on UnitedBSD.

I ended up explaining how I used to host a website on NetBSD with Caddy.

There is no rc script in pkgsrc.
Also caddy doesn’t support deescalation to listen on privileged ports (no cap on NetBSD).

No article yet but:

Currently waiting for XCP-NG 9 storage improvements (format, multiqueue, nvme) with hopefully proper 4K sector support for nvme drives.

In the meantime will use Proxmox but I prefer Xen’s isolation model.

This music video can crash your computer.

It even has its own CVE number (CVE-2022-38392).

Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” contains specific resonant frequencies that cause errors on certain 5400rpm hard drives.

x86_64-vX baselines are planned obsolescence brought to the free and open-source world by corporates change my mind.

Especially with the existence of hwcaps and as storage is cheap the possibility to auto build for each baseline and the idea of a baseline channel for a said app.

Mini PC maker MINISFORUM is bringing AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 to a rack-mountable system called the MS-S1 Max with a 2U server chassis. The chip is 12-core, 24-thread mobile processor with 40-core RDNA 3.5 graphics and a 50 TOPS NPU. x.com/Hi_MINISFORU...

How do you use AI in your dev workflow ?

I must say I’m fed up of seeing AI even when/where IMHO it isn’t needed.
Also tired of the BS in the use of “AI” where it isn’t.

I can also imagine where it can be useful though.

Interested in C ASM Linux/BSD programming feedback.

Can discuss in 🇬🇧 and 🇫🇷.

Genuine question (I like both Linux and *BSD)

But even after extensive reading and being aware of licenses for years, I don’t understand why people prefer the less restrictive permissive licenses.

To me, it looks like allowing corporations to make millions on the back of free software devs.
