Pleased to share our new work. Black communities face higher Parkinson’s disease burden, but we know they remain underrepresented in research.
We highlight the key barriers - distrust, stigma, and accessibility - and offer community-driven recommendations to increasing research engagement.

Our findings suggest that there are differences in underlying processes between dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson's dementia, which are distinct from those driving dementia

Using fixel-based analysis, we showed white matter changes in LBD relative to PD. We also found changes in fibre density of the WM, which were worse in PDD compared to DLB.

Both plasma p-tau217 and NFL were increased in LBD compared to PD at low risk of dementia and controls, but neither plasma marker showed differences between PDD and DLB

We measured plasma p-tau217 & NfL and diffusion MRI in 47 DLB, 21 PDD, 29 PD, and 23 controls
