President Trump's refusal to share the legal justification for his airstrikes on civilian boats at sea is shocking, but not unprecedented. For too long, both parties have looked the other way as presidents abuse their power and evade accountability.

The Trump administration's lethal strikes are the apotheosis of the last quarter century's often always secret and often unreviewable executive branch legal reasoning.

Confirmed: The people of D.C. deserve to be free from presidential overreach and troops on their streets.
Today, U.S. District Judge Jia M. Cobb ordered a halt to the president’s unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to D.C.

This ruling provides an important check on presidential power and makes it clear that when we defend D.C., we defend democracy.

The death penalty grew out of this country’s brutal practice of lynching.

When lynching became politically and socially unpalatable, the death penalty became the state sanctioned alternative.

No one should be killed by the state. The time to end the racist, unjust, and cruel death penalty is NOW.

President Trump's sanctions against the International Criminal Court are preventing Americans from helping the court prosecute the gravest international crimes.

Our clients are suing the Trump administration because the First Amendment protects speech that aids the ICC's work.
How sanctions imposed by Trump are taking a toll on the International Criminal Court
The International Criminal Court, or ICC, only intervenes when national courts can't or won't prosecute crimes like genocide and crimes against humanity. But after the Trump administration sanctioned several members of the court this year, Americans trying to prosecute some of the world's worst crimes at the ICC are discovering those sanctions are preventing them from doing that.
