I was thinking about this yesterday.

If MAGA supporters were to say ‘enough’, the instinct might be to lecture or shame, but a movement against what’s happening will need community, not more division.
We need everyone we can get in this fight against a fascist takeover.

If your first instinct to someone being politically mobilized by all this is to give them a sneering "well, what took you so long?" you don't actually care about our winning this; you just want to be able to say you were right.

Scott: ‘Trump doesn’t respond to outrage, he responds to the markets’

He’s right. Delay big purchases for even 30 days, a big dent is made. S&P suffers and that might move the needle.

I can understand the reluctance of using this term before he took office this time around.

However, 2025 have ample opportunity to call a spade a spade. Because it was clear.

Yes, better late than never and all that… but still disappointing.

Until recently, I thought it a term best avoided. But now, the resemblances are too many and too strong to deny.

Those who have been sounding the alarm for over a decade are welcoming those who are late to the realisation…

Every bit of normalisation of the unequivocal craziness and cruelty got us here; they were just afraid to call it by its name.

He knows this.

Hence the current decisions.

What would someone losing approval and wanting to call the insurrection act and call off elections do?

Exactly.
A week into Donald Trump’s second term 37% of Americans thought the country was headed in the right direction, while 50% thought it was on the wrong track. Those numbers are now 31% and 61%, respectively

Genuinely think this coverage is worthy of formal complaint – and if the BBC doesn’t take it seriously, it should be escalated to Ofcom.

The appearance of caving to the Trump White House, when the BBC is being sued, could be disastrous for public trust.
The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

Just imagine the narrative if there were no video of this is the one with actual footage evidence.

Their narrative is simply lies, everywhere. Provided they fit their purpose they will lie unashamedly.
Noem:

"An individual approached US border patrol officers... The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently."

Video footage from multiple angles proves that this is outright bullshit.

Alex Pretti did not approach ICE officers nor did he react violently.

There have been *so* many last straws…

I’m pleased to hear at least some journalists are starting to call the insanity what it is.

Time to stop coddling this unstable and dangerous being.

There is *nothing* that will make them accept responsibility.

They don’t believe in accountability or consequences for them, only for others.

They believe in unquestionable power, that’s it.

They will do whatever they want, no consequences.

Unserious decisions by an unserious country

Kushner has no official position in the US government.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.
