Reviewer 2 strikes again… may I NEVER be like them…
Gave a talk online on Friday. I love the interdisciplinarity that my work on Black music, sound and particularly Black British music allows.

#Pisces is the last of the zodiac, able relate to all. The most karmic energy. Anyone does us Pisces placements dirty always regrets it and then karma ensues.
tr. Neptune + Saturn in Pisces are the culture doctors, wrongs will be exposed and justice will follow.
I am on the Editorial Board for the new Subcultures Book series with @manchester_university_press. It is connected to the Subcultures Network. Academics writing around subcultures, popular music, fashion etc., be sure to put proposals in!
Thank you to @intellectbooks for featuring me in their 40th anniversary celebration magazine. The thing I love about them is that they are rigorous but are daring in their subject matter. They push the envelope… a bit like what I’ve tried to do in the field. Here’s to 40 more years… and then some!
A new Dr. has been born! I had the honour of examining a PhD student & they now proudly have the new the title of Dr! They have pioneering concepts & methodologies to share with the world. I am humbled that I am now in a position to assist in the journey of others fulfilling their greatness.
Yesterday I premiered my exhibition ‘Life of the Mind/Grind:The HiveMind experience’ at the ‘Holding the space: Shining the light on Black academics 2025’ conference at University of Westminster. It was an amazing conference. Thank you to Yaz who organised the event.

Announcing a side-project that I have been working on for the past few months – introducing quokka, a free-to-use, in-browser app for qualitative coding. My goal was to make an app that was fairly intuitive and flexible so that it could fit most workflows. An app demo here: youtu.be/9jJK70W0hAI?...

There’s a reason so many academics are dismissive of the Trump/Musk/Vivek types and it’s that we’re all very aware of the Overconfident Bro Who Hasn’t Done the Reading But Still Wants to Lead the Discussion

Sis, take up all the space you need. In the room. At the table. In the aisle. Don’t let nobody rush you, hush you, or cut you. You’re where you belong. #BlackSky #BlackWomen
Please add me. (Sociologist)
I definitely prefer the vibe here and I’m hoping to curate this space with much more intention than ‘another place’.
Looking for a book publisher that is open to unconventional ideas. Amy recommendations? I have something almost ready to go.
