I've finally got around to curating a selection of films about the #climate crisis 🎥

There's lot of mediocre climate films out there, but for me these stand out head & shoulders above the rest 🎞️

They make excellent resources for classrooms, lecture halls, or community cinema's 🎬

Csv files have to be lists of DOIs formatted according to the instructions on the entry page. Exports from databases aren’t consistent enough to use

Hmm if it’s happening in the test environment it almost certainly means an issue with the upload. Does it happen with files from elsewhere?

Cooking and eating together connect us beyond hunger — to memory, identity, and home.

My latest piece explores how commensality becomes care and resistance for marginalised people: medium.com/the-new-clim...
Commensality: Sharing More Than Food
Sharing food is part of many cultures, strengthening bonds of community. But for marginalised people, commensality goes deeper.

On the ground, the complexity is immediate & visceral — far from the abstractions of climate discourse. Policy without substance risks becoming another layer of greenwash.

Will New Laws Help to ‘Green’ Almería’s Sea of Plastic?
A photojournalism essay shows how a ban on plastic from composting facilities is a mere drop in the ocean.

Would love to hear from others working on agriculture, waste or policy: what mechanisms have you seen that shift plastic from liability to resource?
September 25, 2025 at 9:57 AM
🍆 Farmers & waste managers are caught between cost, practicality & sustainability - but frequently choose the cheapest (often free), environmentally damaging action (dumping waste).

🥒 Making the “Sea of Plastic” circular means rethinking the whole model, not just banning plastic rope.

🍅 Plastic permeates every layer of production: soil, biomass, infrastructure.

🫑 Laws & bans are a start, but without enforcement & supply-chain buy-in, they fall flat.

Just published in The New Climate: Will New Laws Help to ‘Green’ Almería’s Sea of Plastic?

Almería’s greenhouses look dazzling from above — but underneath lies a system struggling with plastic, waste & fragile regulations.

Absolutely wild. Israel targeted and massacred 31 journalists and media staff in Yemen. The second-deadliest attack on journalists ever recorded. The Israeli regime is built on war crimes.

Delighted to have my photography research featured in the British Ecological Society Niche magazine!

We talk about photoelicitation, commensality and labour exploitation in Almería's intensive greenhouses.

Norwegian salmon 🐟 + Spanish tomatoes 🍅

Both look ordinary on our supermarket shelves, but both fuel broken food chains: overfishing in West Africa, dangerous migration, and exploited labour in Europe.

While green technologies can hypothetically make supply chains more efficient, enhanced efficiency often leads to more production and economic growth, not less.

A farmworker died last week after sustaining injuries during a chaotic raid on a California farm. In an op-ed, Vanessa Trujano reflects on a lesson she learned as a young farmworker: “America values immigrant labor more than actual immigrants, & so we must recognize our own worth.”
Our country does not value the people who help build, feed, and sustain it
ICE raids of farms are a cruel reminder that the U.S. has long devalued immigrant labor, while also being wholly incapable of surviving without it
