Every child deserves to see themselves in the stories they read. Teachers and librarians are facing harassment and for defending the #freedomtoread. But they aren’t backing down—they’re standing up for truth, empathy, and every student’s right to learn.

PEN America is warning against "normalized" book bans. Educators from around the United States tell us what that means in public school classrooms.

Today is #LatinaEqualPay Day

Latinas are paid just 54 cents, on average, for every $1 non-Hispanic, white men are paid.

This is not just a number, but a lifetime of stolen wages. The pay gap harms Latinas, their families, and our entire country.

Latinas deserve fair pay now!

Today is #LatinaEqualPay Day. Latina women who work full time earn only 54¢ for every $1 earned by a white male. This pay gap harms Latinas and their families. Join us in demanding oversight of the EEOC to make sure every worker is protected from pay discrimination and bias. https://bit.ly/48lhxfU

Educators on military bases working without pay. Critical food assistance for hungry students jeopardized. Health care hanging in the balance.

Students and families are hurting because Republicans in the White House and Congress have forced a government shutdown.

Public schools can’t afford to lose more teachers. Black teachers make up only 6% of the profession and are leaving at higher rates. Stress, lack of respect, and pay gaps (earning about 6% less than white peers) are driving them out.
