Yes, though some have 2 week half term so may finish sooner but that isn’t introduced in our area until next year (although I suspect working in an FE college we may not do that).

Thanks 🤩 I think I possibly did see this at some point but I had forgotten about it. I’ll definitely make sure to check the year 2 textbook in the future too. For topics like this where it is so closely linked would you teach ax+b in yr 1 or wait to yr 2 to introduce it?

In #Alevelmaths syllabus (we do AQA) are they expected to be able to deal with fractional roots / factors of form (ax+b) using the factor theorem?

In #mathstoday we did trial and improvement in #coremaths using a core maths platform resource to work out the maximum width of a garden path with enough concrete for 200m^2. A student told me it was fun and got very excited when they managed to find an exact solution with the help of excel drag 🤩

Yes this is the sort of thing I mean. I was looking for a set of these sorts of questions to develop skills in comparing coefficients even if they use other methods for more standard algebraic division questions.

Yes that’s exactly what I was thinking so I was looking for questions that can’t be done without comparing coefficients so they would be forced to develop the skills to use later on. I had been thinking of where there are unknown coefficients.
