A very friendly cat came up to me on the sidewalk to say hello as I was heading to Brittania Pool a few weeks ago. The tag on his collar said his name was Omelette and I was quite overcome.

Wait, it's not? Then what does it... oh NO

re: roblox dude's interview crashout. the thing he wants to say but can't is "at scale, kids are gonna get hurt. that is the price for scale." the thing nobody wants to say out loud is "maybe scaling to a level where harm isn't manageable is bad, and scale should be contained"

Legitimately, there's so much gold here! It's outrageous how stacked the Vancouver game development community is.

I've played over 275 hours of Darkest Dungeon II, not because of the fondness I have for all the folks at Red Hook (although that is true!), but because it's a damn fine video game.

And there are so many other great games in here too, including some I was aware of but I had no idea were being made here??

The degree to which basically every single Silicon Valley exec's brain has been scooped out and replaced by a vat-grown organ clone of the dumbest Wharton MBA at McKinsey is honestly staggering

Ah yeah, absolutely. Heh, if we're stepping on landmines, it's the least we can do to say, "Oh hell, whelp, turns out there's a landmine right here y'all."

Truly breathtaking, absolutely incredible.

Set a hectare of rainforest on fire and the world's stupid robot can enthusiastically and emphatically insist that Zelda is spelled with a "J."
I think we should stop using the word "hallucination" and just say AI is fuckin stupid. I asked for games with a "J" in the title and it gave me this

werner herzog: the korok says “i need to reach my friend,” but i see not friendship here. instead i see the cruel jungle, i see abandonment, one left behind, struggling to move, like a turtle on its back, baking in the hyrule sun. “oooh” it cries out in anguish. “aaha.”

Sometimes you just stop and have a think about the fact you can say the words, "I just got an email from Mayonnaise" and you're describing factual reality

(also my 9 year-old and I still play a decent heap of Fall Guys now and did tons more in the past, so genuinely thanks for helping manifest something to create a ton of joy and wonderful memories for the two of us)

Gah, well that's mighty kind of you! Heh, any time someone asks how it's going, I just exhale deeply and say, "I have lived a thousand years in the last week."

For real though, the well wishes are supremely appreciated, thank you.
November 13, 2025 at 7:30 AM
Yep, you can indeed. You can literally gets adds/removes on a per-day basis (or aggregated over whatever time period one wants).

Fortunately for us, at least, even now the wishlist count is going up far more than removals.

Thanks friend =) Yeah, it's uh, woof. Without question, the number of EA games I will ship after this is precisely and immovably zero.
November 13, 2025 at 7:25 AM
That's extremely kind of you, thanks. It sure has been... a time. Ha, but we're doing well internally, all of us. Obviously we're not like, stoked but if anything the fire in the belly has been stoked even more. Sometimes the most motivating thing is someone saying you can't.
November 13, 2025 at 7:24 AM
Ahhhhh, Meg, thank you so much! We reference Sunless Skies and 80 Days tons internally, so we're really standing on the shoulders of giants here.

Heh and yeah, it sure has been... a week ;)

For real though, that's extremely kind, thank you

There have been folks with enough space on their dance card to jump in though and their feedback has been hugely valuable already, so the dish will be even more well-seasoned when we see you on the far side ;)
November 13, 2025 at 7:17 AM
Yeah, that makes a heap of sense. And we imagined lots of folks (maybe even a majority) would be similarly disposed. It's more just that ratio being yet even closer to 100% that was... unexpected, heh.
November 13, 2025 at 7:17 AM
Oh yeah, and this totally makes sense to me! I've been on that side of plenty a game as well. It really was just the degree to which the sentiment from people who had been in for EA stuff in the past had moved to wariness that was a bit of a surprise.
